Job Description:

This Purchasing Agent position is the ideal opportunity for someone with Supply Chain or Purchasing education or experience to join a fast paced, growing Purchasing Department. Olympus Group is looking for a highly motivated candidate to grow with our company in a fast paced environment. This person will be responsible for sourcing a wide variety of raw materials and components, ensuring the lowest cost while still meeting quality, delivery, and specification requirements. In addition, this person will be responsible for re-ordering programs of merchandise, following up on late purchase orders, arranging inbound freight from suppliers, and conducting cycle counts.

Position Requirements:

  • Fill custom requests with needed items at an acceptable quality level in time to complete project timeline.
  • Identify and implement savings strategies to determined levels.
  • Finding alternatives to customer requests
  • Identifying alternatives to existing commonly sourced items
  • Participate in department efforts to improve efficiencies in the way items are ordered.
  • Satisfy requests in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Provide input on supplier’s abilities, performance, and results for quarterly scorecard.
  • Perform cycle counts on assigned categories.
  • Schedule and confirm inbound freight shipments.
  • Follow up with vendors on late purchase orders.

A strong candidate will be creative and persistent in the sourcing of hard-to-find items. Candidate will also exhibit the appropriate sense of urgency with internal customers. Experience with MRP systems in a production environment is critical, as is a general understanding of inventory transactions within an MRP system. Candidate must be organized, detail-oriented, and be able to multi-task efficiently.
