What To Do With Fonts:

Please convert all text to outlines before sending us your file. If you cannot outline your fonts, please send along all fonts used in your document. This includes the screen and printer fonts. If you need assistance on how to convert text to outlines an Olympus representative can assist you in the process.

How To Get Correct Color:

Files look different from monitor to monitor, and even printer to printer. Therefore, colors that are critical, such as logos, are best specified in PMS color(s) for us to color match (as close as possible). This works best in vector art with solid colors, but can be achieved in raster images as well. If the files are in CMYK we will print the file as is. Our sales representative will be glad to discuss the details of color matching your files.

Things To Do When Creating A Layout:

There are often unique finishing options required for custom projects. Consider how your art will be affected by the finishing required. For example, art may need to be placed differently to avoid a seam, grommet, sizing discrepancies, or to accommodate cut patterns. Make sure all text and main imagery is not too close to the edge of your finished size or you run the risk of important information getting cut off or sewn through. Your layout can be created at any size as long as it is proportionate to the finished size. Example: if the finished size is 96″ by 144″, your finished dimensions can be 8″ by 12″, or 1/12 scale. Finishing often requires the design to go beyond the layout dimension (bleed). Please add bleed to all your art files. If these things are taken into consideration during the design process, it will ensure a smooth and timely completion of your project. Please discuss with an Olympus representative any questions related to formatting your artwork.

Setting Up Art To Be Cut To Shape:

We can take your artwork and cut it to any shape you can imagine, however this takes some special considerations when setting up your files. The two most important things are the cut line and bleed. Artwork that is cut to shape after printing must include 1/4′ bleed past the cut line to ensure there will be color to the edge of the finished piece. The cut line should be vector art and be included on a separate layer within your art file. For guidance on having your project cut to shape, please consult your Olympus representative.
